At this month's Rennie-Gades we had a great rave about growing business using social media - the pitfalls and plusses.

So many brave Rennie-Gades (it was a cold evening) and new faces!

Thanks to Nola and Sue, recent graduates from the NorthWest Business Development Centre's Grow Your business On-Line program, for sharing their knowledge.

Hopefully we'll see you on the 4th July at the British for the next Rave. What topic idea do you recommend?

      Mentoring 04/04/2011

At Renniegades tonight we raved about the value of mentoring relationships.  The March workshops saw six local Renniegades enlisted to be volunteer mentors for women trying to secure financial independence through work and/or business start-up.  "I got so much out of it" said one mentor. "I found myself asking her questions which I should have been asking myself but hadn't. It was a real eye-opener!"

Said another "I'd never done mentoring before but was given a list of prompts which helped a lot. And when I relaxed it was really easy to keep the conversation rolling and I was very helpful."

The Chapter is keen to hear from you if you are interested in learning what it takes to be a mentor to someone or if you would like to experience the value of a mentor for yourself and your business.

      2011 International Women's Day award 07/03/2011

Last night at Renniegades, Michelle Morton, owner/founder/Managing Director of E-Cycle recovery and CRT Australia, with the Inaugural Anna Rennie Chapter International Women's Day Award.

By honouring one of our own, the Chapter joins a global web of rich and diverse local activity to draw attention to the amazing achievements and on-going struggles of women all around the world.

Driven by her passionate concern for the environment and a vision to "save the planet" , in just 5 years, Michelle has created 2 successful companies that recycle all types of e-waste in an ethical, transparent and socially responsible manner. These values not only describe her approach to her business ventures but they epitomise Michelle and the way she lives her life.

As well as recognising her business innovation and entrepreneurial achievements, the Chapter particularly  recognises Michelle's personal persistence and resilience, her willingness to learn, her courage to take risks and her unfaltering commitment to our environment.  "Michelle, your achievements offer inspiration to other women who are wanting to make a difference but perhaps lack the self belief and courage."
